Starbucks partners celebrate winning the first unionized Starbucks store in the United States as the Elmwood Ave. ballots are counted.

On December 9th, 2021, Starbucks workers at the Elmwood & Genesee st. locations became the first unionized corporately owned Starbucks stores in the United States. After months of Starbucks’ aggressive union-busting campaign, workers were victorious in their union campaign and became the newest members of the Rochester Regional Joint Board.

Since this first victory, over 100 stores from 26 states have followed in Buffalo barista’s footsteps and filed union petitions with the Starbucks Workers United movement.
