The Union Building Now

Our Shops!

We currently represent workers from a wide range of industries. Learn more below.

Across Western New York, we represent workers at hotels, convention centers, and airports. For example, some of our hospitality union shops include: the Best Western and Sheraton Hotels in Buffalo; the Double Tree and Hampton Inn in Schenectady; and the Rochester Riverside Convention Center & Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Our union was founded by immigrant garment workers and we continue to represent workers in the apparel industry to this day. For example, we represent workers at Swany Apparel in Gloversville and the iconic Hickey Freeman in Rochester.

All workers deserve a union, including those who work in the non-profit and education sector. We represent workers at museums, like the Science Center in Ithaca NY, and non-profits like Citizen Action and For the Many.

Across our region, workers continue to do the hard work to manufacture the things we rely on. We’re proud to represent workers at many of these manufacturing plants, including: Colonial Tanning in Gloversville; Energy King, Fibrix & Habasit in Buffalo; and Sealy Mattress in Green Island. We are also proud to continue to represent Xerox workers, who we have represented for many successful decades.

Food service workers often have the hard and thankless job of ensuring that we can grab our coffee every morning and be served a filling meal at lunch. We represent over a dozen food service shops across the region, including cafes and restaurants like Spot Coffee, Starbucks, Remedy House, Lexington Coop, Gimme Coffee and many more. We also represent food service workers at colleges and universities, including Bard College, Buffalo State College, College of Saint Rose, Marist College, and Sodexo workers at the University of Albany.

The Rochester Regional Joint Board represent workers at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, Tioga Downs, and Vernon Downs. Earlier this year, our union even helped ensure that these businesses could continue to operate by advocating for a fair tax rate for union businesses compared to non-union businesses.

Last but not least, our union represents workers at industrial laundries. These are the workers cleaning all of the towels, sheets, and other materials for hospitals and health care centers. We represent workers at companies like Aid to Hospitals, Alsco, Aramark, and Clean Care.
